How good is the new iPhone 13 ?

iPhone 13 is here, I personally don’t think any other mobile company in the near future can build such a hype and an ecosystem. When you hear that there’s a new iPhone is getting launched most of us will definitely watch the live broadcast of it regardless, how many will buy it. This is just the level how apple is so good at their marketing. But, there’s always more to a phone then it’s hype.

The Design

The new iPhone resembles to the previous iPhone. All the four iPhones (mini, 13,13 pro, 13 pro max) each of them is exactly of the same shape and size when compared to iPhone 12. This isn’t something new this is just how apple rolls, they don’t like doing experiments with the looks of the phone. Whereas other companies comes up with new and such unique designs every year. Apple knows, that it has cracked the most “ICONIC” design and hesitates to do experiments. The majority of the experiments done by apple have been removing the home button and the new colors of iPhone.

Smaller Notch

In 2021 having a notch is such deal breaker and you are paying such a great amount of money and still having a notch hurts , but the brilliance of face ID balances it out. Speaking of notches apple has finally decreased the size of the notch upto 20%. The bezels all over the screen is great. No one can beat apple for me when it comes to the bezels design.

Storage

Having a 64GB storage in 2021 is such deal breaker for many. You might go for other storage options, but they cost you too much. Apple has come up with a solution for this problem and have made a base variant of 128GB.

Bigger Battery

The bigger the battery the better and it can be used for long term, but then it becomes less appealing because of its thickness and weight. Apple have always given a lot of importance of the iPhones appearance and the in hand feel of it, which made them never to give too much battery and the battery they provided was never enough. This is not a case in the new iPhones . For iPhone 13 mini and 13 pro you get an extra 1.5hr on screen time and for 13 and 13 pro max you get an extra 2.5hr on screen time and it’s a huge step up from previous iPhones.

Increased Refresh rate

The display of the new IPhone is not only brighter, but has the one thing which apple has always missed and sometimes I think they just ignored it, the 120Hz refresh rate. All the other iPhone generation have had just 60Hz. Iphone 13 pro and iPhone 13pro max comes with 120Hz refresh rate.

The New Chip

In the Apple launch event it was claimed that the new A15 chip is 50% faster for CPU and 30%faster for GPU. I think apple is misleading everyone here. Because looking at the numbers you would obviously think that the new A15 chip is almost 50% faster then the previous A14 chip and that’s not true. A15 chip is actually upto 50% faster than the other Android chips available in the market.

More stabilized CAMERA

I personally love the iPhone camera, but it still needed an upgrade. The cinematic video, I think people will start recording movies from their iphones now, because it’s good, the auto detection, the software and everything makes it such a great experience. They have added a new feature for recording video’s, called the “Sensor Shift Stabilisation”. This means instead of the lens moving to counter act your hand movements, it’s the camera sensor behind the lens doing the moving. This basically makes the video’s more stable.

CHARGING

For obvious reasons IPhone 13 doesn’t come with a charger , the only cable u find in the box is a USB type-C to lightning cable which means that you have to buy a USB type-C adapter to use it. The major reason of apple removing the charger is, I feel they are pushing for their wireless charging, which is neither convenient nor fast.

To sum up, Iphone 13 pro’s are really great phones and will give a hard time for it’s competitor’s, because of the A15 chip, 120Hz refresh rate and Apple’s optimisation.

Whereas the IPhone 13 and 13 mini are less competitive because you miss out on the new camera upgrades , no 120Hz refresh rate.

Let us know in the comment section how excited are you for the new IPhone 13.

Do You Really Know XIAOMI?

On 6th April 2010 Xiaomi was co – founed by Lei Jun and six others. It’s a Chinese multinational company which started as a software company called MIUI and it took almost a year for them to put that software in a phone and launch it, which was MI 1. This is how Xiaomi started, but everyone thinks of xiaomi just as a mobile company which makes cheap phone’s but their is more to know.

The idea on which Xiaomi works

The word Xiaomi literally translates to little rice in Chinese which refers to a Buddhist concept of starting from little and growing to top. Xiaomi didn’t want to be like a regular company it wanted something different to which their buyer’s can connect with and eventually become their fans. They conduct quiz tournaments, meet ups with their loyal fans which creates a close relationship between the customer and xiaomi. For me Xiaomi can be described as COMMUNITY FOCUSED.

Sub brand of Xiaomi

POCO is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. It was first announced in August 2018 as a mid-range smartphone line, and became a separate sub-brand of Xiaomi. POCO phones use the Xiaomi MIUI user interface on top of Android.

How does Xiaomi make profit?

Everyone will obviously think that like any other company, Xiaomi too will make profit from the sales of their phone’s, but do you know xiaomi takes only 2$ on every phone they sell. This eventually adds up to tons of money, still this is not their only or major source of profit. They make different products like Mi TV, MI WIFI, MI Drone, Smartband, Smartwatches, Smart Home Applications, Trimmers, Electric Scooterand so on. Even this is not their major profit generator. They make majority of profit from their software, ads you get when you install a new app, and paid themes.\

Thing’s I like about Xiaomi

Xiaomi doesn’t step back from experimenting, be it their transparent TV or thrice foldable phone, they never hesitate to experiment and this makes Xiaomi different and better from other electronic companies. They are Community focused, they not only reward their fans by making good products at an affordable price, they also have a personal connection with the fans through meet ups, quiz and MFF(MI FAN FESTIVAL).

Things I don’t like about Xiaomi

They might love experimenting, but it’s a know fact they tend to copy their phones(design) from APPLE. The worst part is they have photocopied their Xiamoi store’s exactly as an Apple store be it from color scheme to product arrangement. They have a weird fetish of naming some of the worst phone’s. They simply choose a brand name (redmi, mi, poco, note) a number and word or a letter which defines whether it’s a light or high end version of a phone like

MI 11X , POCO F3, REDMI NOTE 9 PRO.

How an indvidual can protect his Data?

PRIVACY”, this is the most important factor in our lives, whether it is internet privacy or offline, we want to keep our lives privately. But in today’s world or in this information age, internet privacy has become a myth. In some cases keeping our data privately is impossible.

Many of us understimate the importance of online privacy, but we should be aware of how much information we are sharing, not just on social networks, but just by browsing online itself. On the internet, data has high value, it can be stolen, sold, collected and analyzed. Ironically, we continue to share our personal lives on social media, ignoring the boundaries of how much we are exposing ourselves.

Why Is Privacy Important?

We all have things to hide. It could be, your private pictures, how much money you make, your medical records or your bank account number, credit card details, exchanging informtion from person to person etc. Hiding things is not bad. I don’t think these are the types of things you’d like broadcast on your social network for the entire world to see. This is the main reason why we must strive to protect our right to privacy.

What Can Be Done With Our Data?

Personal data can be misused in a number of ways if it is not kept private or if people don’t have the ability to control how their information is used:

  • Criminals can use personal data to defraud or harass users
  • Companies may sell personal data to advertisers or other outside parties without user consent, which can result in users receiving unwanted marketing or advertising, influencing users to false products.
  • When a person’s activities are tracked and monitored, this may restrict their ability to express themselves

For individuals, any of these outcomes can be harmful, many people and countries hold that privacy has constitutional value: that privacy is a human right fundamental to a free society, like the right to free speech.

Technology has made our lives easier. But it also means that your data is no longer your own.

Our top tips to help you protect your privacy online

1. Secure your passwords.

  • Passwords are the keys to our digital lives. Cybercriminals employ many tactics to try and crack them. To make this task difficult for them, use strong, complicated passwords.
  • A good password should be at least eight characters long, and use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Don’t use full words, names, addresses, phone numbers or any other easily identifiable personal information. Be sure to avoid using the same password across multiple websites as well.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), if available, is another way of verifying your identity other than just a username and password.
  • Never save passwords on your device

2. Be conscious of all privacy settings

Most apps offer privacy settings for users. This gives you the freedom to know how much and what kind of information is shared. Always choose the least amount of data sharing. Always be cautious when sharing your name and location. Turn off location services and deny access to your camera. When it comes to social media, be sure to review your privacy settings.

3. Keep your operating system up to date.

Software updates perform important tasks. They are available for both our operating systems and individual software programs. Performing these updates will deliver a multitude of revisions to your computer or mobile phone, such as adding new features, removing outdated features, delivering bug fixes, and most importantly, fixing security holes that have been discovered.

4. Be aware of what you click online

Phishing (sourcing your sensitive data when you go online) depends on you clicking on certain risky sites. So, read carefully online and do not click on anything remotely suspicious. Don’t forget, some phishing threats pose as ads.

5. Secure your devices and use antivirus software

You should definitely have up to date, industry-leading antivirus software on your device, whether it’s mobile or a computer. Run it regularly and carry out frequent scans.

6. Browse in incognito mode

When browsing online, you have the option of choosing “incognito” mode. Also known as “private browsing”, it means that your online history isn’t stored or remembered.

To conclude

Keeping your personal information private is your right, but it is our responsibility. It doesn’t matter if you surf the web on your own, or you provide an online service. It is your responsibility to use and manage the information correctly and safely.

if you don’t take precautions towards your digital information, you could suffer a wide range of attacks and frauds such as Phishing, spyware, and malware. Through these and other strategies, hackers can easily steal your identity.

We need to understand that, all of us must take ownership of our data security. Every individual is responsible for the privacy of their information and how much of it they decide to disclose.

The dark side of the internet.

“The dark side of the internet”, sounds interesting right? Yes it does sounds interesting. We all know what is internet? The internet is a vast network that connects computers all over the world. Through the internet, people can share information and can communicate from anywhere with an internet connection.

In this growing era of technology, we trust internet by making secure payments, storing medical records and sharing personal photos with family and friends. We trust a website when it claims our information is safe from intruders(hackers) and that when our information is posted privately, only we can access.

However, once the information is posted or sent it is public. Hackers can get into these seemingly private portals and extract information.

The vast internet consist of 3 layers.

1.Surface web

2.Deep web

3.Dark web

Surface web

This is the portion of web which is accessible by the general public, when you run a web search using regular search engine’s such as, Google chrome, Firefox, Yahoo!. The surface web is also called as “visible web”.

The surface web is public, consisting of sites we use frequently such as, Facebook, Twitter, E-commerce sites(Amazon, flipkart). This layer makes up only 4 percent of entire internet.

Deep web.

The Deep web refers to any webpage that cannot directly indexed by a search engine. This could be because it requires login information to view the content. Emails, bank statements or a company’s internal database are all examples of the Deep Web.

Search engines can lead you to websites that have Deep Web content, but they are not able to index those specific pages. For example, a search engine can index some information form a instagram page, that consist name, profile photo, bio and other information depending on the user’s privacy settings, but further information’s such as, posts, highlights, story are hidden and therefore are deep web.

Though Deep web and darkweb together make up the other 96 percent of the internet that is unavailable to search engines , they are very distinct.

Dark web

The dark web refers to encrypted online content that is not indexed by conventional search engines. Sometimes, the dark web is also called the “dark net”. The dark web is a part of the deep web.The dark web refers to a part of the internet that isn’t indexed or visible by conventional web browsers and search engines (Yahoo, Google and Bing).

Similar to the surface web, the dark web consists of websites, marketplace. However, it requires an anonymous browser to access it. The web browser used to access the dark web is known as The Onion Router (TOR).

Why the dark web is refered as “the dark side of the internet”?

The dark web is commonly known to be the criminal activity hub. These crimes mostly involve the selling and buying of stolen data. This data ranges from credit card information, company financial information, account usernames and passwords, gun supplying, human trafficking, bank account information, business data and many more. According to the research, the number of stolen passwords in circulation on the dark web has increased by 300% since 2018.

The dark web empowers ordinary people, but some people will inevitably abuse that power. The dark web can make it easier to commit some of the worst crimes. For example, the combination of the dark web and cryptocurrencies technically makes it much easier to hire someone to commit a murder. While the dark web promises privacy to its users, it can also be used to violate the privacy of others. Private photos, medical records and financial information have all been stolen and shared on the dark web.

To conclude.

The darknet can be a dark place with sites and tools that are used to carry out criminal activities. It is difficult in today’s world to use the internet without being tracked and monitored in large public and private databases. Limiting the sharing of personal information, staying updated about recent cyber threats, and following steps to reduce risk in high-profile data breaches are all great steps to protect our information.By understanding the risks that the dark web poses, you can take the appropriate precautions to protect your data.

“GAMING PHONE’S”

Should you buy a “GAMING PHONE” ?

Let me give you a brief about the “GAMING PHONE’S”. Imagine a high-end flagship phone remove the good camera, the sleek finishing, curved glass and add 12gigs of ram, high refresh rate, high sampling rate, big battery(too many fancy words), this is basically your gaming phone and it costs around 45k-55k INR.

GAMING PHONE’S are the new cool in the mobile industry. Some  mobile companies like asus, razor have made many gaming phone’s to attract new users and game developer’s.

Playing games with our fingers covering the corners of the screen was never ideal, but it was an necessity that developers had to work their way around to attach modular controlers and peripherals to make the whole gaming experience  better.

What special features does a gaming phone provides?

  • They have around 12gigs of ram.
  • Have an internal fan to cool your phone.
  • A big battery and good battery back up.
  • Air trigger which are used while gaming.
  • A minimal increase in CPU clockspeed.
  • Around 144hz refresh rate.
  • Around 300hz sampling rate.

What do you miss out on a gaming phone?

  • No gaming phone has a special dedicated chip just for gaming phones.
  • A very decent camera.
  • The interface you get here is not so good.
  • The gaming phones are sold and made small in numbers, so after sale services are bad.
  • No game developers would actually make any optimization just for your gaming phone.

Are “GAMING PHONES”better?

Buying a gaming phone depends on the personal point of view, a normal person would want his camera to be good, want his phone to look and feel good , while on the other hand a hardcore gamer would only want his gaming experience to be better. Beyond its appearance, these devices have struggled big-time in the camera department.

To conclude

I believe everyone has just one phone and would want to have the whole experience to bo great. I would suggest if you are a professional gamer, only then you can buy a gaming phone. A High-end flagship phone too can handle your gaming experience smoothly. Your decision greatly depends on how much you value games over the phones’ compromises, like its camera, aesthetic and simplicity.

For the record, I am a hardcore gamer and I use a normal phone and it can handle my gaming experience efficiently.
